Hotel Zhiwa Ling, PARO

Hotel Zhiwa Ling built on a ten acre land in upper Paro valley, near the trail head for Takstang, which is around 15-20 minutes drive from Paro town. The 45-room Zhiwa Ling combines the sensibilities of a fine Bhutanese guesthouse with the best of 21st Century technology. Envisioned and created by a local Bhutanese company, the hotel's elaborate hand-carved wooden cornices and masterful stonework coexist beautifully with cutting-edge telecommunication systems and Swedish under-floor heating. It is one of the best in the country. The spa offers all the amenities of a modern fitness center – sauna, steam room, gym – as well as a traditional Bhutanese outdoor hot-stone bath. There is a Business Center, and a Tea House, two fully-equipped conference rooms and a Meditation House. One restaurant specializes in contemporary international cuisine, the other classic Bhutanese dishes and there is also the Mad Monk Bar for after-hours fun.
On the second floor of the main building, there an elaborate temple built, made with 450-year-old timbers from the famous Gangtey Monastery.

The Magnolia and Drukgyel Junior Suite rooms are located in 8 different two storeyed cottages. The Magnolia suites are located on the ground floor and Drugyal Suites are located on the top floors of the cottages with private balconies. There are two one bedroom suites (Takin & Blue poppy) located on the second floor of the main building. These suites have seperate living room with private balcony and a spacious bedroom. The Royal Raven Suite has two bedrooms, a large dining and sitting room, private porch, with its own private shrine room. The suite rooms in the main building also come with butler service.
All rooms are appointed with oak floors, hand-knotted rugs and rich modified traditional furnishings. All rooms feature satellite television with DVD player, direct dial telephones, wireless internet, In room safe, mini Bar.
